Currently, the kubelet always sees the object after a round trip
when it GETs it. But, we don't want to rely on that behavior,
since it will break when fastpath is implemented.
So, we rely on this:
all objects either are created with an alpha annotation (1.3 or 1.4
code) or are created with a beta annotation under 1.4. In the later
case, they are round tripped at creation time, and so get both
annotations. So all subsequent GETs see both labels.
The serviceAccountName is occasionally useful for clients running on
Kube that need to know who they are when talking to other components.
The nodeName is useful for PetSet or DaemonSet pods that need to make
calls back to the API to fetch info about their node.
Both fields are immutable, and cannot easily be retrieved in another
way.

Make labels, fields expose selectable requirements
What?
This is to change the labels/fields Selector interface and make them expose selectable requirements. We reuse labels.Requirement struct for label selector and add fields.Requirement for field selector.
Why?
In order to index labels/fields, we need them to tell us three things: index key (a field or a label), operator (greater, less, or equal), and value (string, int, etc.). By getting selectable requirements, we are able to pass them down and use them for indexing in storage layer.

I made two commits: one with the actual change and the other with the auto-generated code. I think it's easier to review this way, but let me know if you prefer in some other way.
I haven't written any tests yet, I wanted to have a first glance and not write them till this (and the API) are more close to the "LGTM" :)
There are some things:
* I'm not sure where to do the "AND 0777". I'll try to look better in the code base, but suggestions are always welcome :)
* The write permission on group and others is not set when you do an `ls -l` on the running container. It does work with write permissions to the owner. Debugging seems to show that is something happening after this is correctly set on creation. Will look closer.
* The default permission (when the new fields are not specified) are the same that on kubernetes v1.3
* I do realize there are conflicts with master, but I think this is good enough to have a look. The conflicts is with the autog-enerated code, so the actual code is actually the same (and it takes like ~30 minutes to generate it here)
* I didn't generate the docs (`generated-docs` and `generated-swagger-docs` from `hack/update-all.sh`) because my machine runs out of mem. So that's why it isn't in this first PR, will try to investigate and see why it happens.
Other than that, this works fine here with some silly scripts I did to create a secret&configmap&downwardAPI, a pod and check the file permissions. Tested the "defaultMode" and "mode" for all. But of course, will write tests once this is looking fine :)

Simplify canonical element term in deepcopy
Replace the old functional canonical element term in deepcopy registration with direct struct instantiation.
The old way was an artifact of non-uniform pointer/non-pointer types in the signature of deepcopy function. Since we changed that to always be a pointer, we can simplify the code.

Validate list objects when building scheme
The first commit is #29468. This PR is a followup.
Modified the description of **List** in api-convention.md to:
`The name of a list kind must end with "List". Lists have a limited set of common metadata. All lists use the required "items" field to contain the array of objects they return. Any kind that has the "items" field must be a list kind.`
Also added code to enforce the above rules during scheme registration.

Add support to quota pvc storage requests
Adds support to quota cumulative `PersistentVolumeClaim` storage requests in a namespace.
Per our chat today @markturansky @abhgupta - this is not done (lacks unit testing), but is functional.
This lets quota enforcement for `PersistentVolumeClaim` to occur at creation time. Supporting bind time enforcement would require substantial more work. It's possible this is sufficient for many, so I am opening it up for feedback.
In the future, I suspect we may want to treat local disk in a special manner, but that would have to be a different resource altogether (i.e. `requests.disk`) or something.

Initial support for pod eviction based on disk
This PR adds the following:
1. node reports disk pressure condition based on configured thresholds
1. scheduler does not place pods on nodes reporting disk pressure
1. kubelet will not admit any pod when it reports disk pressure
1. kubelet ranks pods for eviction when low on disk
1. kubelet evicts greediest pod
Follow-on PRs will need to handle:
1. integrate with new image gc PR (https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/27199)

storage error: precondition failure should return invalid object error
In introducing the preconditions by @caesarxuchao , if check preconditions failed, it returns resource version conflict error. This is the wrong error to return, and instead it should return invalid object error. We need to separate these two types of errors.
See the implementation in etcd3 [https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/blob/master/pkg/storage/etcd3/store.go#L467].
Also renaming "ErrCodeResourceVersionConflicts" to "ErrCodeVersionConflicts" for simpler reading.

Fix panic in schema test
If the swagger files for testing are lost, the func `loadSchemaForTest` or `NewSwaggerSchemaFromBytes` will return a non-nil error and a nil schema. In this case, the calling for `ValidateBytes` will result in panic. So, call Fatalf instead of Errorf.
Also fix minor typos.

Fix init container update validation for pods
Partial fix#26840
The remaining issues with `kubectl apply` on pods with init containers
are caused by temporary annotation-based representation and
will resolve themselves once init containers leave alpha state.
Also, this PR makes sure internal and external objects don't get mixed up by the
PATCH handler (see related issue #25106).
This PR is an alternative for #28557 which met criticism from @smarterclayton
and @liggitt for working around the temporary issue with annotations.
#28557 is a full fix for #26840 and contains an e2e test that cannot pass
without the `VolumeMounts` workaround. As there appears to be no
good way to include an e2e test that's known to be failing in k8s source,
I've removed it from this PR.
Either this PR or #28557 should be applied, but not both.

Allow handlers earlier in a request flow to inject a UID for an object
This lets admission controllers specify a stable UID for an object prior to its creation. That lets the admission controller then record a reference to the object on another resource using that stable UID prior to the object being created. This would be a prerequisite for supporting quota reservations.

Fix GPU resource validation
This fixes scheduling of pods with GPU resources. The change was never upstreamed during the 1.3 beta period, as it got lost in the noise of other changes in our fork. Ooops. I'll submit a cherry-pick request for 1.3.1 as soon as this lands in master.
Because of defaulting, requests are always set if limits are. Thus, the check can never succeed. Instead, make sure that the two values are equal.
Also, remove a few other error messages and remove unnecessary Sprintf calls.

This is needed to convert k8s components to use versioned clientset.
To let components use versioned client, we need to convert `pkg/client/record` to v1, which depends on `pkg/api/ref.go`, so we need to make a `pkg/api/v1/ref.go`. And this [line](https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/blob/master/pkg/api/ref.go#L44) requires v1.ObjectReference to be a runtime.Object. Moving `api.ObjectReference.ObjectKind` to `pkg/api/ref.go` will make the writing a conversion script easier because all the necessary changes will be restricted in `ref.go`.

Generate a better Stringer method for proto types
This replaces the bad string output generated by golang/proto with gogo/protobuf stringer generation. Makes the output similar to %#v and more debuggable. We have to have a String() method to implement proto.Message, so this is strictly better.

Implement a RESTMappings method
With the introduction of batch/v1 and batch/v2alpha1, any
MultiRESTMapper that has per groupversion mappers (as a naive discovery
client would create) would end up being unable to call RESTMapping() on
batch.Jobs. As we finish up discovery we will need to be able to choose
prioritized RESTMappings based on the service discovery doc.
This change implements RESTMappings(groupversion) which returns all
possible RESTMappings for that kind. That allows a higher level call to
prioritize the returned mappings by server or client preferred version.

rules that call things like 'go run' or 'build/*' that I left as-is for now.

This fixes PodSpec to generate cleanly. No other types only half-generate (so
now we Fatalf), though several fail to generate at all (only Errorf for now).
There are ample opportunities to optimize and streamline here. For example,
there's no reason to have a function to convert IntStr to IntStr. Removing the
function does generate the right assignment, but it is unclear whether the
registered function is needed or not. I opted to leave it alone for now.
Another example is Convert_Slice_byte_To_Slice_byte, which just seems silly.
This drives conversion generation from file tags like:

.. rather than hardcoded lists of packages.
The only net change in generated code can be explained as correct. Previously
it didn't know that conversion was available.

This PR is extracted from #25978 - it is just the deep-copy related parts. All the Makefile and conversion stuff is excluded.
@wojtek-t this is literally branched, a bunch of commits deleted, and a very small number of manual fixups applied. If you think this is easier to review (and if it passes CI) you can feel free to go over it again. I will follow this with a conversion-related PR to build on this.

Remove reflection path in meta.Accessor
Callers are required to implement their interfaces, removes the
potential for mistakes. We have a reflective test
pkg/api/meta_test.go#TestAccessorImplementations that verifies that all
objects registered to the scheme properly implement their interfaces.
@wojtek-t this may need an additional test or two, but I think this is a
net win over the current state (where people fallback to reflection without
being aware of it).
This is the last piece of Clayton's #26179 to be implemented with file tags.
All diffs are accounted for. Followup will use this to streamline some
packages.
Also add some V(5) debugging - it was helpful in diagnosing various issues, it
may be helpful again.
This drives most of the logic of deep-copy generation from tags like:
// +deepcopy-gen=package
..rather than hardcoded lists of packages. This will make it possible to
subsequently generate code ONLY for packages that need it *right now*, rather
than all of them always.
Also remove pkgs that really do not need deep-copies (no symbols used
anywhere).
This is in prep to simplify tag logic. Don't rely on processing commas as new
tag delimiters. Put new tags on new lines. This had zero effect on generated
code (as intended).
In bringing back Clayton's PR piece-by-piece this was almost as easy to
implement as his version, and is much more like what I think we should be
doing.
Specifically, any time which defines a .DeepCopy() method will have that method
called preferentially. Otherwise we generate our own functions for
deep-copying. This affected exactly one type - resource.Quantity. In applying
this heuristic, several places in the generated code were simplified.
To achieve this I had to convert types.Type.Methods from a slice to a map,
which seems correct anyway (to do by-name lookups).
His PR cam during the middle of this development cycle, and it was easier to
burn it down and recreate it than try to patch it into an existing series and
re-test every assumption. This behavior will be re-introduced in subsequent
commits.

Validation: Make validation func return error strings

This centralizes the error strings next to the code that checks the error conditions. Future commits will refine the messages further and provide more utility validators.

selector: make sure value of GT and LT is integer
GT and LT in selector has been introduced in Node Affinity feature: https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/19758, https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/pull/18261
According to the API:
> If the operator is Gt or Lt, the values array must have a single element, which will be interpreted as an integer.
But the implementation has parsed it as float64:
ef0c9f0c5b/pkg/labels/selector.go (L183)
Modeling integer as float is dangerous. We don't even have fixed precision guarantee when doing comparison.
This PR is to get rid of this pre-optimization and convert **integer** to int64.
